(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS came out on the short end of a goaltender's duel, Friday night in Atlantic University Sport women's hockey action at UNB's Aitken Centre.
The REDS lost 1-0 to the visiting St. Thomas Tommies.
Tahlia Mallaley's goal at 5:45 of the third period was the only goal of the game and came on the Tommies' 23rdshot on the UNB net.
Cassie McCallum, despite being near perfect, took the loss in the UNB net. She made 26 saves on 27 Tommies shots.
Chloe Marshall stopped all 28 REDS shots she saw to earn the win.
Marshall was named the Tim Horton's Player of the Game. McCallum was the game's second star.
With the win, the Tommies improve to 3-2-0-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL) and sit in a three-way tie for second in the AUS standings.
The REDS are now 2-2-0-0.
Neither team has much time to digest the outcome as they meet again Saturday night at Fredericton's Grant-Harvey Centre. Face-off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
