REDS Win In Milestone-Filled Affair
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS remain unbeaten after a 3-1 win over the Acadia Axewomen in Atlantic University Sport women's volleyball action, Saturday afternoon at UNB's Richard J. Currie Center.
The REDS won with scores of 25-21, 19-25, 25-17, and 25-16, improving to 14-and-0, in a game that saw a number of REDS reach career milestones.
The home team took the opening set 25-21 from an aggressive Acadia side.
The second set saw the Axewomen continue to push the AUS leaders, winning the set 25-19.
UNB rebounded to score a 25-17 win in the third.
In the fourth, the REDS built a 12-7 lead prompting an Acadia timeout, but that did little to stem UNB's momentum. The REDS extended their lead to 14-7 on their way to the 25-16 win and the 3-1 triumph.
With nine kills, eight digs, and 30 assists, including the 1000th of her AUS career, Talia Nixon earned UNB's Tim Horton's Playter of the Game honours.
