(MONCTON, NB) The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues scored powerplay goals in the second and third periods to beat the UNB REDS 2-0 in Atlantic University Sport women's hockey action, Friday evening, in Moncton.
Myriam Theriault's second period goal proved to be Moncton's winner.
Amelie Vachon added another powerplay marker in the third.
Erica Plourde assisted on both goals.
Olivia Eustace led the REDS, going 10-for-13 in the faceoff circle and registering a team-high six shots on goal.
Annick Boudreau stopped all 35 shots she saw in the Moncton net while UNB's Cassie McCallum made 21 saves on 23 shots.
Despite the loss, the REDS continue to hold a share of first place in the AUS standings with their 10-4-0-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL) record.
Moncton is third, at 8-5-1-0.
The REDS skate back into action on Saturday when they host the UPEI Panthers. Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm. Moncton will visit St. Thomas at the same time.
