Arsenault Joining REDS
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS are adding heralded forward Jamie Arsenault to their recruiting class of 2024.
Currently in her Grade 12 year at Stanstead College, in Stanstead, Quebec, the Sackville, New Brunswick, native has signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the REDS ahead of the 2024-2025 Atlantic University Sport season.
“It’s been a goal of mine to play university level hockey and I feel so fortunate to be joining one of the top women’s hockey programs in Canada,” said Arsenault. “Coach Hilworth and the whole program have really helped me to feel like I have a home at UNB.”
A veteran member of Stanstead’s varsity girls’ team that competes in the Junior Women’s Hockey League, Arsenault was an assistant captain on Team New Brunswick at the 2023 Canada Winter Games, an assistant captain on Team Atlantic at the 2023 national under-18 championship, and a member of Team New Brunswick’s 2022 Atlantic Challenge Cup winning team.
Ahead of the 2021-22 season, Arsenault was named captain of Stanstead’s new varsity girls’ team and she helped the Spartans to the 2022-23 JWHK regular season title.
“Jamie’s got all the qualities we look for in a RED,” said REDS’ head coach Sarah Hilworth. “She’s an incredible competitor and she values team. She plays the game with selflessness and passion and is not afraid to make big plays for her team to find success.”
Before attending Stanstead, she was a member of the Moncton Rockets U15 team that won the Atlantic championship.
“Jamie is someone that we know will impact young hockey players in our community,” said Coach Hilworth. “It’ll be special to see her help grow our UNB legacy.”
“I’m thrilled to play at the top level and to be able to do so around family and friends here in New Brunswick,” said Arsenault. “I’m thrilled to be a RED.”
Arsenault, whose father Pierre is the current Chief Executive Officer of U SPORTS and the former Athletic Director at Mount Allison University, will study Business while attending UNB.
