REDS' Struggles Continue
(REGINA, SK) The UNB REDS are still looking for their first win after two days of competition at the U SPORTS Championships in Regina.
UNB's Jenna Campbell rink suffered a close 5-4 loss to Guelph in an early draw on Wednesday before dropping a 9-7 decision to Atlantic University Sport rival Memorial on Wednesday night.
In the loss to Guelph, the Gryphons scored three in the seventh end to decide a close game.
Against the Sea-Hawks, the Campbell foursome scored three in the third end to draw even at 3-3, but gave up three in the fourth.
UNB responded, counting four in the sixth end to tie the game again, but Memorial scored one in the seventh and stole another in the eighth for the 9-7 win.
The 0-3 REDS meet another 0-3 team, Calgary, early on Thursday, before facing Alberta, 1-2 after Wednesday, in a later draw.
Round robin play concludes Friday, when UNB faces McMaster and Regina.
Semi-final and medal games will be played on Saturday.
