Pearson Coming Home To REDS
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS, defending Atlantic University Sport women’s basketball champions, are adding 5’8” veteran guard Neve Pearson to their recruiting class of 2026.
Pearson, from Rothesay, New Brunswick, will join the REDS ahead of the 2026-2027 AUS season as a transfer from Carleton University, in Ottawa.
“We’re thrilled that Neve has chosen to join our program,” said REDS’ head coach Erin McAleenan. “Her speed and ability to play in transition will be a great addition to our style of play. Neve is also a disruptive defender, and I’m excited to see how she adds to our strong team defence.”
The 18-year-old is a former two-time New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association Final 12 MVP and was the NBIAA’s Southwest Player of the Year in 2024-25.
She led her Rothesay High School team in scoring in four straight seasons, helping the Red Hawks to a provincial title in 2025.
“The fact that they are an extremely competitive team was part of what drew me to UNB,” said Pearson. “They’ve got a strong coaching staff and there’s great team chemistry.”
Pearson was a member of Basketball New Brunswick’s provincial teams at the U15 and U17 levels and is a current member of the Port City Fog of the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association, where she’s averaging almost ten points per game through six games so far this season.
“I’ll bring speed, athleticism, hard nose defence, and a positive attitude,” she said.
Her main goal as a RED is to win a national championship.
“We love the fact we’ll have another New Brunswicker on our roster and are thrilled that Neve has chosen to bring her talents home,” said Coach McAleenan.
Pearson will study Science while attending UNB.
