College Guard Jumping To REDS
(FREDERICTON, NB) The defending Atlantic University Sport women’s basketball champs, the UNB REDS, are adding veteran guard Dahlia Fleurantin to their recruiting class of 2026.
The 5’6” Fleurantin joins the REDS after three seasons at Champlain College Saint-Lambert, where she helped the Cavaliers to the 2024 RSEQ championship and a bronze medal at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association championship tournament.
“Dahlia is a great get for our program,” said REDS’ head coach Erin McAleenan. “She’ll make an impact right away with her ability to defend as well as being a three-level scorer. She comes from a winning program at Champlain, and understands the hard work required, so she’ll fit in well here.”
“What appealed the most to me was the coaching staff, the competitiveness, and the culture of UNB,” said Fleurantin. “I’m always eager to learn and work hard. I hope my defensive abilities will become an asset for the REDS.”
The 19-year-old, from Mercier, Quebec, was part of Cavaliers teams that finished third, in 2025, and second, in 2026, at the RSEQ championship tournament.
During the 2025-2026 RSEQ season, she averaged 4.3 rebounds and 4.5 points per game and logged a total of 17 steals.
“I hope to gain skills that will help me grow as a basketball player and as a young adult,” she said.
“I’ve been impressed with Dahlia’s versatility and willingness to do whatever her team needs,” said Coach McAleenan. “She’s a strong scoring guard who can play the point if needed. Dahlia’s commitment and desire to defend at an elite level is what excites us most as we aim to take another stride forward in how we defend this coming season.”
Fleurantin says her short-term goals include contributing to another AUS championship for the REDS and the program’s first U SPORTS gold medal.
She’ll study Psychology while attending UNB.
