(HALIFAX, NS) Kylee Speedy and Katie McAffee each scored 13 points to lead the UNB REDS in a 68-58 win over the Dalhousie Tigers in Atlantic University Sport women's basketball play, Saturday evening in Halifax.
Maheva Ngassam added 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the REDS won for the seventh time in eight starts.
UNB outscored the Tigers 22-10 in the second quarter to take a 37-25 lead to the half-time break.
Dal pushed the REDS in the second half, but UNB hung on.
Speedy went 3-for-7 from three-point range, giving her 108 three-point shots made for her AUS regular season career. That moves Speedy past Laura Kaye and into third spot on UNB's all-time threes-made list. Leah Corby and Mikaela Dodig sit atop that list with 140 and 113 respectively.
UNB is now 7-1 and back in first place in the AUS standings, two points up on STFX.
Dal is 1-7 and in seventh place.
The REDS go back on the road next weekend. They visit St. John's and the Memorial Sea-Hawks for games on Friday and Saturday evenings.
