(SYDNEY, NS) The UNB REDS staged a second-half comeback to earn their fourth consecutive Atlantic University Sport women's basketball win, a 64-60 triumph over the Cape Breton Capers, Saturday afternoon in Sydney.
After trailing 36-28 at the half, the REDS defence allowed just 12 points in third quarter and another dozen in the fourth.
Down 50-47 in the fourth quarter, UNB went on a 10-0 run to pull ahead 57-50 and then hung on for the win.
Kylee Speedy and Katie McAffee led the REDS with 13 points each, while Maheva Ngassam and Zoe Olscamp each grabbed 10 rebounds.
Alyssa Jenkins came off the REDS bench to score 10 points and pull down seven rebounds.
Amanda Cruickshank scored a game-high 31 points for the Capers. Kristen Taylor added a dozen.
The Capers bench contributed just three points.
With the win, the REDS are now 4-and-0. They return home and will host Saint Mary's on Friday, the first of a two-game weekend series. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00pm.
The Capers, now 0-and-4, return to action Friday as well. They play host to the UPEI Panthers.
