CBU wins battle of 6-1 teams
(SYDNEY, NS) The Cape Breton University Capers defeated the UNB Varsity Reds 69-51, at CBU's Sullivan Field House on Friday.
The Capers improve to 7-and-1 with the victory, while UNB drops to 6-and-2.
Alison Keough(Marion Bridge, NS) led the Capers with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Sandra Amoah(Toronto, ON) and Natasha Roach(Roxboro, QC) provided a spark off the bench with 8 and 7 points respectively.
UNB was led by Laura Kaye(Fredericton, NB). She scored 17 points in a losing cause. Nicole LaFleur(Fredericton, NB) contributed 8 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists in a strong effort.
The Capers shot 4-10 from the 3-point line and won the turnover battle over the Varsity Reds 19-12.
The Varsity Reds face the X-Women, at St. FX, on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00PM.
The Capers host to the UPEI Panthers, next Friday.
