Hamilton 'Returns' To UNB Tennis
(FREDERICTON, NB) Former provincial junior champion Ben Hamilton has returned home and has joined the UNB REDS men’s tennis team.
The Fredericton native was the New Brunswick junior champion in the U16 and U18 categories in 2022 and represented the province at the 2022 Canada Summer Games.
He’s represented Atlantic Canada at the national championships on four occasions and has competed internationally.
“With Ben’s experience in both singles and doubles, along with his team sport background, he’ll be a great asset for us,” said REDS’ head coach Chris Nadeau. “We’re excited to have him join the program.”
Hamilton joins the REDS after a year at the University of Ottawa.
“I was always connected to UNB,” said Hamilton. “Coming back from Ottawa to study and play tennis at UNB is a full-circle moment and I’m ecstatic to play for the REDS community that has had such a positive impact on me.”
Hamilton’s father is a professor at UNB, and both his parents are UNB alum.
“UNB has always had a place in my life,” he said. “Whether it was attending summer camps, spending time on campus, or playing Reds club volleyball.”
“He’s grown up as a RED,” said Coach Nadeau. “We can’t wait to see him compete and help him improve and help grown university tennis in Atlantic Canada.”
Hamilton is a multi-sport athlete who has team experience in volleyball and baseball.
Hamilton will pursue an Arts degree while attending UNB.
