CCAA Veterans Joining REDS
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS men’s volleyball team is adding depth and experience in the addition of veterans Mason Brewster and Liam Pelletier to their recruiting class of 2026.
Brewster, a 6’4” middle from Bathurst, and Pelletier, a 6’2” hitter from Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, are both homegrown New Brunswickers.
“Mason and Liam have been dominant in their positions in the college ranks over the past few seasons,” said REDS’ head coach Dan McMorran. “Their skill, experience, physicality, and competitive drive, will position them well for success at the U SPORTS level.”
Both have signed U SPORTS Letters of Intent and will join the REDS ahead of the 2026-27 RSEQ season.
“Growing up in New Brunswick, I always looked up to athletes competing at the U SPORTS level, especially the REDS,” said Pelletier. “Having the opportunity to represent my home province and this university means a lot to me.”
Pelletier will join the REDS after four seasons with Quebec’s CEGEP Limoilou Titans and the Université Sainte-Anne Dragons of the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association.
He helped the Dragons to an ACAA title in 2024-25.
In 2022-23, he helped the Titans earn a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association silver medal.
He was a two-time ACAA Most Valuable Player and first team conference all-star, a two-time CCAA All-Canadian and holds ACAA single season records for most kills, most points, highest kills per set average, and highest points per set average.
“UNB offers the perfect combination of high-level athletics and strong academics,” said the 23-year-old. “I was drawn to the culture Coach McMorran has built and the close-knit team environment. I’ve developed an understanding of the pace, style, and competitiveness of some of the country’s strongest volleyball programs, and I’m excited to bring that experience to the REDS.”
Before moving to the post-secondary ranks, Pelletier helped U14, U16, and U18 sides win provincial championships in New Brunswick and Quebec.
“I bring a high level of energy and passion every time I step onto the court,” said Pelletier. “I want to be a player who leads by example and helps raise the standard every day in practice and competition. As a teammate, I value communication, accountability, and supporting those around me.”
Pelletier has two years of U SPORTS eligibility remaining.
The 22-year-old Brewster will join the REDS after four seasons with the St. Thomas University Tommies, of the ACAA.
He was a two-time ACAA all-star and helped the Tommies to ACAA titles in 2023-24 and 2025-26.
Brewster is coming off a season that saw him earn CCAA All-Canadian and Academic All-Canadian status. He was named the Tommies’ 2026 Male Athlete of the Year.
“I plan to bring speed, power, explosiveness, and a strong presence at the net with my athleticism,” said Brewster, a member of New Brunswick’s 2022 Canada Games team. “I plan to bring energy and sportsmanship with teammates, motivating them on and off the court, in the classroom, and the weight room.”
Both Pelletier and Brewster say making a successful transition to the U SPORTS level and the REDS is among their short-term goals. Longer term, they both want to help UNB compete for conference and national championships.
“They will certainly strengthen our group,” said Coach McMorran. “We’re excited to welcome them to our REDS family.”
Pelletier will study Management while attending UNB and Brewster will pursue a Master of Arts in Economics.
