REDS Adding OH Moores
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS men’s volleyball team is naming 6’5” outside hitter and opposite Josh Moores to their recruiting class of 2026.
The 17-year-old, from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, has signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent, and will join the REDS ahead of the 2026-2027 RSEQ season.
“I believe he’s one of the top outside recruits not only in Atlantic Canada, but across the country,” said REDS’ head coach Dan McMorran. “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him and look forward to seeing the impact he’ll make in our program.”
“UNB has a beautiful campus with a strong business program, and that really appealed to me,” said Moores. “The players create a welcoming environment which makes the team feel like a family. I’ve heard so many great things about the program and about Coach McMorran.”
Currently finishing his Grade 12 year at Dartmouth’s Woodlawn High School, Moores is a veteran member of the Panthers varsity team.
As a member of the Dartmouth Volleyball Club, he was part of a provincial championship team earlier this year and he’s also been part Nova Scotia’s provincial team program, including being a member of the team that represented the province at the 2025 Canada Summer Games.
He’s part of Nova Scotia’s Provincial Excellence Program and Targeted Athlete Program.
“Josh is an outstanding multi-sport athlete whose physicality and athleticism set him apart on the court,” said Coach McMorran. “He’s also a top student and a person of great character, which makes him an ideal fit for our group.”
Moores was named Woodlawn High’s male athlete of the year for 2024-25 as well as being named to the school’s principal’s list for academics.
“I’ll bring a strong work ethic and leadership to the team and will be a sponge, soaking up as much knowledge as I can from my coaches and teammates,” said Moores.
Among Moores’ goals as a RED, earning U SPORTS All-Canadian status.
He’ll study Business Administration while attending UNB.
