(HALIFAX, NS) The UNB REDS rallied after dropping a close second set to beat the Dalhousie Tigers 3-1 Friday night in RSEQ men's volleyball action in Halifax.
UNB won the opening set 25-16 before allowing the Tigers back into the match in the second. The home team won an extended second set 26-24.
The REDS bounced back, taking the next two sets 25-18 and 25-15 for the 3-1 victory.
With the win, the REDS improve to 5-and-4, good for third place in the RSEQ standings. The Tigers are now 0-9.
Benjamin Sullivan led the REDS offensively, striking a dozen kills, while Lucas Maffia and Nicolas Losier added 10 each.
First-year RED Alex Bourque had a game-high 10 digs. Maffia and Finn McMorran contributed nine apiece.
Defensively, Shamus Cormier put up a season-high eight blocks.
McMorran registered five blocks and pitched 31 assists.
Sam Gallagher led Dal with a match-high 34 assists while Jacob Oyler had a dozen kills and Gabriel Moshett had nine digs.
The REDS and Tigers square off again Saturday to wrap up their weekend series. Game time is scheduled for 3:00pm.
