REDS Score Straight Sets Win Over Tigers
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS won a marathon first set on route to a straight-sets win over the Dalhousie Tigers in RSEQ men's volleyball action, Friday night at UNB's Richard J. Currie Center.
The REDS, in their 2025-2026 home opener, won an extended and exciting opening set 33-31 when Finn McMorran and Travis Pruim combined to block a Tigers attack on set point.
From there, the REDS carried momentum and beat the visitors 25-18 and 25-18 in the second and third sets.
Nicolas Losier led the REDS with 14 kills, eight digs and a service ace to lead the REDS. He was named Tim Horton's Player of the Game.
McMorran registered a game-high 32 assists while first-year RED Alex Bourque had 13 digs.
Dillan Morphet led the Tigers with 15 kills while Gabriel Moshett had a dozen digs and Sam Gallagher had 28 assists.
After two road losses at Laval in their season openers, the win is the first of the new season for UNB. Dal falls to 0-and-3.
The teams will conclude their two-match weekend series Saturday afternoon. First serve is scheduled for 3:00pm.
