(FREDERICTON, NB) Diego Carreno's first career Atlantic University Sport goal gave the UNB REDS a 1-0 win over the visiting Dalhousie Tigers on Sunday afternoon at UNB's BMO Centre.
Taking advantage of a miscue by the Dal defence, Carreno took a feed from teammate Hunter Delahunt and put a left-foot shot into the Tigers net as the REDS salvaged a weekend split.
Dal won Saturday's game 1-0.
Jensen Brown made a pair of saves in the UNB net to earn the clean sheet while Sinclair Astridge stopped three of the four shots on the Tigers' net.
With the win, UNB is now 5-4-1 (W-L-T) which is good for a piece of fourth place in the AUS standings. The REDS are currently tied with Moncton, at 16 points.
Dal is 6-2-1. Their 19 points make them part of a three-way tie atop the AUS table with Cape Breton and STFX.
The REDS return to action on Friday evening when they host the Saint Mary's Huskies in their final home game of the season. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm.
The Tigers visit Cape Breton on Sunday. Game time is 3:30pm.
