V-Reds up to No.8
The University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds men's soccer team is eighth best in the country according to the latest Canadian Interuniversity Sport national rankings.
The V-Reds battled the Dalhousie Tigers to a scoreless tie Saturday at Chapman Field and defeated the Saint Mary's Huskies 1-0 Sunday to improve their Atlantic University Sport Men's Soccer Conference mark to 2-0-2 on the season.
The team has given up just one goal in four starts to date. The Dalhousie Tigers, 2-0-1 on the season, are the only other Atlantic entry among the top 10. They're listed in a tie for fourth with the York Lions of Toronto.
The Tigers are actually one point behind the V-Reds in the AUS standings. They too, have surrendered only a single goal this season.
The V-Reds are on the road this week, in Cape Breton Saturday to face the Capers and in Antigonish Sunday to take on the St. Francis Xavier X-Men.
The 0-4 UNB women are also on the road to Cape Breton and Antigonish.
