(WOLFVILLE, NS) The UNB REDS snapped a two-game regular season slide with an impressive 3-1 road win at Acadia in Atlantic University Sport men's hockey action on Friday.
The win was the first of 2026 for the REDS.
After a scoreless opening period UNB scored twice in the second.
Thomas Larouche put the REDS on the board first with his third goal of the season.
Less than two minutes later, with UNB on the powerplay, Stu Rolofs made it a 2-0 game.
Acadia's Zak Lavoie got one back early in the third, but that was all the REDS would allow.
Mike Petizian scored UNB's third goal into an empty net with just one second left on the clock.
Remi Delafontaine made 25 saves on 26 shots and was named the game's first star.
Thomas Couture took the loss for the Axemen, making 33 saves on 35 shots.
With the win, the REDS improve to 12-8-1-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL) and hold on to fifth spot in the AUS standings with 25 points, just six back of league-leading Moncton.
Acadia is now 13-5-1-2, good for 29 points and second place.
The REDS head to Halifax on Saturday to take on the Saint Mary's Huskies. Game time is 7:00pm.
The Axemen host the UPEI Panthers.
