REDS Shut Out Axemen To Stay Undefeated
(WOLFVILLE, NS) Samuel Richard (Ste. Catherine, QC) made 20 saves and the UNB REDS remained undefeated with a 5-0 victory against the Acadia Axemen on Friday night.
The U SPORTS No. 1 ranked team scored a pair of goals in each of the first two periods to help cruise to their fifth straight win to start the season.
The evening began with a goal by Brady Gilmour (Grafton, ON) at 8:22 of the first period, followed by Austen Keating's (Puslinch, ON) powerplay goal at the 16:44 mark.
The second period saw Jason Willms (Kitchener, ON) and Justin Nolet (Mississauga, ON) adding to the REDS' lead.
Issac Nurse (Hamilton, ON) added a goal late in the third period to solidify the win.
Looking ahead, Acadia returns to action on Saturday as they host Moncton, with the puck dropping at 7:00pm.
The REDS will face off against the Saint Mary's Huskies, a battle of the top two teams in Atlantic University Sport, in Halifax. Game time is 7:00pm.
