(ST. JOHN'S, NL) The UNB REDS came up on the wrong end of a 111-79 decision to the Memorial Sea-Hawks in Atlantic University Sport men's basketball action, Saturday night in St. John's.
The loss followed UNB's 84-72 win over Memorial on Friday.
On Saturday, the REDS erupted for 33 points in the opening quarter before struggling the rest of the way.
After leading 33-22 after 10 minutes, the REDS allowed the Sea-Hawks to score 32 second quarter points and take a 54-43 half-time lead.
Memorial outscored the REDS 34-18 in the third quarter on route to their big win.
Marcus Barnes scored a game-high 27 points to lead the REDS.
Brandon Laryea added 10 and grabbed half a dozen rebounds while Anthony Sears scored nine off the UNB bench.
Javian Downey and Andrew Robertson each scored 18 for the Sea-Hawks.
With the weekend split, UNB is now 6-4, good for a share of second place in the AUS standings with Cape Breton and STFX.
Memorial is now 3-5 and tied for sixth.
UNB returns to home court on Friday when they host first-place Acadia. Game time is scheduled for 8:00pm.
Memorial will visit UPEI the same night.
