REDS Fall To Ravens
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS dropped a hard-fought 74-71 decision to the Carleton Ravens on Saturday night, day two of their REDS Invitational pre-season men's basketball tournament.
UNB outscored the Ravens 23-15 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough to overcome the visitors who led 38-37 at the half and 59-48 after three quarters.
Brandon Laryea led the REDS with a game-high 20 points while Marcus Barnes dropped 17.
The UNB bench contributed just six points.
Ravens' guard Aubrey Dorey-Havens earned Player of the Game honours with his triple-double of 16 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists.
Marjok Okado added 17 points for Carleton.
In Saturday's opener, the STFX X-Men powered past the Manitoba Bisons 81-66.
D.J. Jackson led the X-Men with a game-high 28 points. He added 10 rebounds.
Koat Thomas scored a dozen for X and had nine rebounds.
Daren Watts led the Bisons, scoring 17 points, while Ramogi Nyagudi came off the Manitoba bench to score 10 and contribute half a dozen rebounds.
UNB, now 0-2, wrap up their REDS Invitational schedule Sunday at 4:00pm as they tangle with the X-Men in an all-Atlantic University Sport match-up.
Carleton takes on Manitoba at 12:00pm.
