Katelyn Scott, of the women’s hockey team, is the UNB REDS/Monks & Jonesie female Athlete of the Week.
Scott played a key role as the REDS won the bronze medal at the U SPORTS Women’s Hockey Championship, in Elmira, Ontario.
Scott scored a shootout goal in UNB’s quarter-final victory and a regulation-time goal in the bronze medal game.
“Katelyn was a force this weekend and was a catalyst, helping us through her determination and grit,” said REDS’ head coach Sarah Hilworth. “Not only did she score some key goals, she blocked shots, played heavy minutes, and did everything possible to help bring a bronze medal back to Freddy Beach.”
The bronze medal is the first at the national championship tournament level for UNB’s women’s hockey program.
