Macauley Carson, of the men’s hockey team, is the UNB REDS/Monks & Jonesie male Athlete of the Week.
The 4th year REDS forward was a big part of the REDS wins over Acadia in the first two games of their best of five Atlantic University Sport semi-final series.
He was an energy player in Thursday’s 5-2 triumph.
On Friday, in game two, he scored four times, including the eventual game winner, and earned Player of the Game honours.
“It was a big couple of games for Macauley,” said REDS’ head coach Rob Hennigar. “He was pivotal in game two, scoring a short-handed goal to help us get an early lead.”
“His veteran presence and play away from the puck helped us even strength and on the penalty kill,” added Hennigar. “His physicality and willingness to go to the hard areas is why he continues to play a big role for us in the playoffs year after year.”
Carson and his teammates now travel to Wolfville for games three and, if necessary, four, Monday and Tuesday.
